So, I've done a thing...

I've joined the Write Out Loud committee in Swift Current. And, honestly, I'm super excited about it. For those of you who aren't familiar, Write Out Loud is a small local group dedicated to, well, writing and speaking out loud! We’re all about creating a space where stories can be shared, ideas can be explored, and voices can be heard.

Why did I join? Good question! As I take my author's journey, I've discovered a new passion for storytelling. Words have this incredible ability to connect us. And let’s be real, sometimes, we all need a little push sometimes.

Our country is full of amazing people with amazing stories. But sometimes, those stories are elusive; maybe the genre doesn't speak to you, or perhaps the author is yet undiscovered. That’s where Write Out Loud comes in. We want to create a platform where everyone is welcome to share their words and their voice, no matter their experience level.

Think of it as a literary open mic with a friendly, supportive vibe. The committee has welcomed many local, regional and national authors over the years. There has been a mix of entertainment and information, offering a good laugh, a few thoughtful moments, and even helped audiences learn something new.

What I’m most looking forward to is the community aspect. I can’t wait to meet fellow writers, listeners, and storytellers. As host of the Brewing Fiction Podcast, I have had the priveledge of meeting and speaking with authors from around the world. I'm hoping that WOL gives me the opportunity to continue to meet, listen to, and learn from the amazing talent who grace the stage at the Lyric Theatre. Plus, if I'm being honest, getting up on a stage and sharing your work is a bit nerve-wracking, but it's also incredibly rewarding.

Keep an eye on the Lyric Theatre website (https://lyrictheatre.ca/write-out-loud), or join my email list for updates on upcoming events and opportunities to get involved. Whether you're a seasoned writer, a budding poet, or just someone who enjoys a good story, we want you to be a part of it.

So, if you're in Swift Current and you've got something to say (or even if you just want to listen), come join us!

And if you have any ideas, suggestions, or just want to say hi, feel free to leave a comment below. I’d love to hear from you and I will pass it along to other members of the committee.
